The Site
A bluff-edge Big Rock parcel above the Pacific, with panoramic ocean exposure and surrounding lots in the same post-fire rebuild cycle.
The Challenge
Honor the original home's relationship to the view while detailing every exterior assembly to current WUI standards, and resolve the Coastal Commission view-corridor and hillside constraints.
The Design
Two stacked stucco volumes joined by a stone-clad core, with vertical wood screens softening the street face. A glass-railed terrace and a terraced succulent and lavender garden step the building down into the slope toward the ocean.
